EMDR THERAPY IN NEW YORK CITY
A cutting-edge, transformative approach to therapy
Are you exhausted from feeling stuck, like no matter what you do, the negative thoughts and feelings are relentless:
Have you tried therapy before, for a long time or maybe even several times, hoping for a breakthrough and not getting the results you need?
Have you attempted every coping skill under the sun and tried every trick in the book, and yet you live with a constant sense of disappointment that you are stalled in your recovery?
Do you feel like something is missing?
Do you experience physical symptoms as a result of psychological distress, such as GI upset, muscle tension, TMJ, or headaches?
If you’ve thought about giving up, we understand. But before you throw in the towel…
consider trying EMDR.
It’s an effective, highly researched approach to therapy that can give you relief from anxiety, nightmares, negative thoughts, depression, trauma symptoms, and more.
With EMDR, you can experience:
Finally getting “un-stuck,” so you can benefit from other therapies or self-help you may have tried in the past
Conquering negative thoughts and symptoms of anxiety and depression, so you can redirect your energy toward thriving instead of just getting by
Experiencing that breakthrough you’ve been longing for, where you’ll feel deep relief in your mind, your emotions, and your body
Getting out of your own way and finding the missing piece in your recovery
Finding relief from physical symptoms and learning how to soothe your body and feel safe inside your skin again
EMDR IS NOT JUST FOR PTSD
While EMDR was specifically developed to treat “Big-T” trauma or PTSD, it is also effective for:
Complex trauma (C-PTSD)
Depression
Anxiety (phobias, panic attacks, OCD, social anxiety, performance anxiety)
Addictions and compulsions
Self-esteem
Anger management
History of abusive relationships (emotionally, sexually, or physically)
History of neglect
Vicarious trauma (ex: first responders)

FAQ’s About EMDR therapy
-
EMDR is a safe, guided process in which your wonderful brain reprocesses old material (memories and body sensations) that have become stuck and isolated as a result of trauma. You don’t have to sit in these painful memories; the accelerated approach of EMDR allows you to move through the past experiences quickly and without reliving horrific details. The result is integration: consolidating new information into your life narrative, promoting healthy and adaptive outcomes, and retraining your brain and body to release trauma and feel safe.
EMDR helps to balance your fears and anxieties, give you back control over your emotions and reactions, clear the darkness of depression, allow you to be more present, and help you experience more joy in life. EMDR heals the wounds caused by trauma by desensitizing you to the painful experiences that have haunted you—without numbing you to all that life has to offer now.

EMDR is not for you if you want all of your trauma resolved in one session. EMDR can absolutely work wonders, but everyone is different and results vary. EMDR is not for you if you prefer talk therapy and don’t have a specific focus for therapy right now. We also do not provide EMDR for clients with severe psychosis or who are actively suicidal.

The flash technique is a safe way to process intensely disturbing material (whether memories or body sensations) without having to think about the memory. Instead, we will use positive experiences and feelings along with bilateral stimulation to guide you through desensitization of the disturbing material. Your subconscious does all the work! I know it sounds like magic (it almost is!), but it is based on scientific research and it works.

An EMDR intensive is an extended EMDR session (or sessions). Your therapist will create a thoughtful and focused treatment plan so that you can work through all eight phases of EMDR at an accelerated rate. The more time we schedule, the more time you will have with your therapist to delve deep and see transformation. Due to the potential for life-changing results, we highly recommend therapy intensives when scheduling EMDR. Read more here.

TRADITIONAL weekly 50 MINUTE SESSIONS?
THEY DON’T WORK FOR EVERYONE
If you’ve gotten frustrated with the traditional pace of therapy, there is another option. A therapy intensive will allow you to experience months’ worth of therapy in as little as 1-3 days.
We get it. Life is hectic and full. Now more than ever, people need flexibility in how they get therapy.
THERAPY INTENSIVES COULD BE THE ANSWER.
