FAQ’s About ART Therapy
-
“Keep the facts. Lose the pain.” ART allows you to separate painful feelings and sensations from the events that caused them, to unlock your potential for growth and wholeness. Each ART session includes, a.) recollection of a distressing event, b.) guided rapid eye movements, c.) image replacement techniques, d.) active therapist guidance, and e.) a feedback period afterwards. That’s it. All you need to be able to do is think about a time in your life, maintain attention for a short period of time, and complete the eye movements. Science does the rest.

Yes! ART can be equally effective online or in-person. While some people prefer the in-person experience, others enjoy the flexibility and comfort of an online session. We work with you to get your eye movements where they need to be. If eye movements are challenging, we can also teach you tapping or other techniques that create the same bilateral stimulation effect that’s required for the ART process.
-
ART is rapid. That is one of its best features. It’s so rapid, in fact, that it’s possible to resolve a single issue in just one session. Keep in mind, however, that depending on the complexities of your unique situation and the history you bring in with you, you may require more sessions to get the results you want.
-
Absolutely. We highly recommend a 90-minute session when participating in ART. The more time you have with your therapist, the more healing can occur.
-
Bilateral stimulation is sensory stimulation—touch, visual cues, sounds—that go from one side of your body to the other. Walking creates bilateral stimulation, as does tapping and back-and-forth eye movements. Bilateral stimulation creates communication between the right and left hemispheres of your brain, a vital process for both ART and EMDR.

TRADITIONAL weekly 50 MINUTE SESSIONS?
THEY DON’T WORK FOR EVERYONE
If you’ve gotten frustrated with the traditional pace of therapy, there is another option. A therapy intensive will allow you to experience months’ worth of therapy in as little as 1-3 days.
We get it. Life is hectic and full. Now more than ever, people need flexibility in how they get therapy.
THERAPY INTENSIVES COULD BE THE ANSWER.
